The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has compiled and delineated
flood maps for every county in every State. These maps designate areas of
Special Flood Hazards as well as those areas not located in a designated
Flood Zone.

Sec. 8589.5 Civil Code
In complying with this Code and in accordance with the Safety Element of
their General Plan, The County of San Diego Office of Disaster Preparedness
has prepared a "General Dam Plan" for San Diego County. There is a separate
plan for each dam showing area inundated, inhabited areas, facilities affected,
responsible parties, command posts, evacuation routes and specific actions
to be taken. Per the County of San Diego there are approximately 26 major
dams in the San Diego County. Of these approximately 23 would, in the event
of failure, effect downstream areas within portions of the County.

The
California State Board of Forestry and Fire Prevention has identified areas
in the State as being located in various Severity Zones. (Very High, High,
Medium and Low) This information is based on statewide criteria and statistics
compiled by the Department and based on the expected severity of fire in
the area. Information used in determining the Severity Zone includes but
is not limited to fuel loading, timber, grazing and fire weather conditions.
A property located in an area designated as Very High Fire Severity may
be subject to special fire prevention/suppression requirements such as vegetation
management and establishment of fire clearance around structures. Construction
requirements may include the use of fire resistant building materials and
protection of structure projections. Pursuant to Section 51178-51189 of
the Code the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has issued
maps delineating Fire Severity Zones.

(State
Fire Responsibility area SRA) The California State Board of Forestry, in
accordance with Sections 4142 and 4125 of the Public Resource Code has classified
a State Fire Responsibility Area (SRA) as lands exclusive of Cities and
Federal Land regardless of ownership, as areas in which primary financial
responsibility for preventing and suppressing fires is that of the State.
A property located in a designated State Fire Responsibility Area may be
subject to fire mitigation measures as set forth in Section 4291 of the
Public Resource Code. This may impact on or limit construction and remodeling
of improvements and landscaping. Pursuant to Section 4125 the California
Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has issued maps delineating State
Fire Responsibility Areas.

Earthquake Fault Zones are delineated and mapped by the California
State Geologist, California Division of Mines and Geology as part
of the Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zoning Act (Section 2622 of
the Public Resources Code |
|
|
At
the present time the State Geologist has not mapped San Diego County,
however, the County of San Diego has mapped the area and the City
of San Diego has mapped all areas within City Limits. |
|
|
In
San Diego County only "The Rose Canyon Fault", the "Elsinore
Fault"
and a portion of the Downtown Area of the City of San Diego are considered
to be in a "Special Study Earthquake Fault Zone". |
|
|
The
closest major active faults, and therefore the most likely to affect
San Diego with ground shaking, are the Elsinore fault, located to
the northeast, and the Coronado Banks fault, located offshore approximately
25 miles to the Southwest. In addition the Rose Canyon Fault, a potentially
active fault, is located west. A major earthquake along one of these
faults, or in the San Jacinto fault zone located about 52 miles northeast.

State Geologist are: Agua Caliente Springs, Arroyo, Julian, Fonts
Point, Earthquake Valley, Carrizo Mtn., Clark Lake, Collins Valley,
Borrego, La Jolla, Mesa Grande, Monument Peak and Pala. |
|
|
In
complying with this Code and in accordance with the Safety Element
of their General Plan, The County of San Diego has delineated and
mapped Locally Identified Seismic Hazard Zones. |
|
|
The
City of San Diego, State of California adopted City Council Resolution
211594, to comply with California regulations requiring Cities to
adopt a Seismic Safety Element within their General Plan. These Maps
were originally issued in 1974 and updated in 1983 and 1995 to reflect
the latest interpretation of geologic features. |

Fault
Zones represent possible limits within which faults could be located.

scale or source maps and accuracy of plots and overlay. All Fault

The
State of California requires that each local jurisdiction address
the problem of tsunami and seiches in its Safety Element. Since the
coastline of San Diego is now entirely within incorporated cities
or under state or federal jurisdiction the County only coordinates
disaster response. The cities of Coronado and Imperial Beach and the
beach communities in the City of Dan Diego are potentially subject
to major damage from tsunamis. |
|
|
Hazard
Categories are delineated and mapped by State of California Department
of Mines and Geology and by some of the Cities in the County and by
the County of San Diego in their Seismic Safety element. Hazard Categories
represent possible limits within which Geologic Hazards such as Landslides,
Slide Prone Formation, Liquefaction or High Rates of Erosion could
be located. The Hazard Zones describe the geologic feature or condition
suspected at the site. Area concept required due to possible plotting
error from different scale or source maps and accuracy of plots and
overlay. All Geologic Hazard locations are based on the best interpretation
of available date at the time of compilation. |
|
|
If
it is determined that any portion of the subject property is located
within a Hazard Category or Risk Zone it may be subject to State,
County or City requirements necessitating geologic or Engineering
study prior to any new construction, any reconstruction or any additional
construction. This report does not address any State, County or City
requirements or any Building Codes. It is provided solely as information
relates to location of the subject property with respect to Earthquake
Fault Zones. If additional information regarding jurisdictional requirements,
compliance with building codes or slope stability is desired it is
recommended that a Geotechnical Consultant be contacted. It should
be noted that the Hazard Category and Risk Zone are not to be construed
as depicting slope stability. |
